Forgeline Motorsports joined forces with Optima Batteries to kick off “DriveAutoX,” a new autocross-style series created with a fresh perspective that allows all years, makes, models, and modification levels to participate. The first event is scheduled for April 7-8 at Zmax Raceway in Concord, North Carolina.

“DriveAutoX was created to serve as a good entry level series that allows new drivers to learn the skill of autocrossing,” said Dave Schardt, President of Forgeline Motorsports. “We’re big supporters of autocrossing and we want it to succeed  and prosper in the future.”

Forgeline is also a sponsor of the SCCA CAM Challenge, Goodguys autocrossing, and the Midwest Muscle Car Challenge held in Indiana on May 18 and 19.

“It’s their passion for the grassroots racing enthusiast and their love of family that goes hand-in-hand with the DriveAutoX series” said Jimi Day, DriveAutoX founder and competition director.

The series is about lifestyle – from the competition to its social elements. Each event is said to have an opportunity for enthusiasts to mingle and “renew old friendships or start new ones.”

Each event consist of two full track days, with layouts that allow up to three cars on the course at once. Qualifying sessions will be held each day and Sunday afternoons will have a unique format to determine class champions.

The series also notes it has a partnership with FSAE and the various local automotive trade organizations so it ensures each event will have knowledgeable course workers. Additionally, event proceeds will be donated to automotive organizations and programs that cater to the young automotive enthusiast.

The series schedule is as follows:

• April 7-8 at Zmax Raceway in Concord, NC
• June 23-24 at Grissom Air Force Base in Peru, IN
• August 18-19 at Gateway Motorsports Park in Madison, IL
• October 13-14 at Mineral Wells Airport in Mineral Wells, TX
