PRI 2016: Stainless Works’ New Challenger, Charger Exhaust Packages

Despite the heavy presence of parts and accessories here at PRI for the LS platform, there’s plenty of love to go around for Chrysler’s late model machines, as well, particularly the 700 horsepower Hellcat and and newest Chargers and Challengers. Stainless Works, in specific, has put their Chrysler products front and center, highlighting their all-new header and exhaust packages for the 2015-17 models of the Dodge muscle cars.

DSC_1951Stainless Works has launched a new Power line version of their headers for the 5.7L to 6.4L engines, which are a lower cost and overseas option for customers, and come with a 2-year warranty versus their standard lifetime warranty. These headers are fully tig-welded, mandrel bent, and manufactured from the same 304 stainless steel used on all of the companys’ products. The headers feature 1-7/8-inch primaries to a 3-inch collector.

Stainless Works has also revealed new catback exhaust systems for the Hellcat, with resonators in the center section and their full 3-inch valve (3-inch all the way through). The valve, one of the key features of the exhaust system, is compatible with the OEM electric motor and installs and operates just as you’d expect with the stock vehicle when it converts to 4-cylinder mode, restricting and altering the sound characteristics to maintain a “muscle-car”-like sound property. Stainless Works is currently in development of catback systems for the new Charger and Challenger, ensuring they have proper fitment with some of the recent changes in the rear valances before going into full production.

The 3-inch exhaust systems and the headers can be purchased in two packages: with the headers to the factory connection point, that includes the headers and high-flow cats or off-road pipes to the lead pipes, or as a factory-connect catback system alone that mounts to either the factory manifolds or headers and goes all the way to the tips. The only difference between the two systems, as Stainless Works’ Jason Snyder shared, is that the catback-without-headers package doesn’t come with the mufflers toward the tip, ultimately providing a louder, more aggressive sound.

Stainless Works has and is continuing to develop the mufflers for their exhaust systems tuned specific to each vehicle and engine — rather than utilizing one muffler across the entire line — in order to give the end-user a precise exhaust note for their given application.
