SEMA 2011: The Ring Brothers’ Impressive 1965 Mustang Fastback

Each and every year at the SEMA show here in Sin City, the famed Ring Brothers – Mike and Jim – bring another of their incredible creations to display to the tens of thousands at the Las Vegas Convention Center. And once again, their latest masterpiece, for which they have teamed up with the folks at Royal Purple Synthetic Oils to create, has captured the attention of all in attendance.

Last year, it was an over-the-top 1970 Ford Mustang Fastback, and this year, the Ring Brothers have remained with the first-gen Pony car theme with a sharp 1965 Mustang Fastback.

[6]Delivering The GruntUnder the hood, you’ll find a Keith Craft-built 351/427 stroker powerplant, delivering a stout 740 horsepower to this finely-crafted machine.

The ’65, which was publicly unveiled on Tuesday afternoon at the Royal Purple booth, is powered by a Keith Craft-built 351/427 stroker, sporting an Edelbrock Super Victor four barrel intake manifold topped with a Holley 750 HP carburetor, a Crane Cams camshaft with roller rockers, a Formula One oil cooler, and audibly delivered to the masses through a pair of Flowmaster 44 Series mufflers. The pavement-stomping 740 horses is delivered to the Michelin 345/30ZR19 Pilot Sport tires through a Tremec T56 six-speed transmission worked over by Bowler Transmissions.

Housed within the ’65 Fastback shell is a full chassis with a tubular A-arm front suspension and Watts link rear with AFCO shocks. Baer brakes with Hawk brake pads supply the stopping power to the Michelin tires wrapped around some wicked Forgeline three-piece wheels, measuring 18 x 11 up front and 19 x 13.5 out back.

Finished in BASF Glasurit 90 Line waterborne paint and adorned with custom graphics, the ’65 body has been widened four inches and features extended rockers, a carbon fiber roof and hood, and Ring Brothers billet hood hinges, door handles, hood pins, and taillights. Inside, you’ll find a full custom interior with a unique, one-off dash and a 4130 chromoly roll cage.

Once again, we and virtually everyone in attendance here at SEMA give a well-deserved round of applause for their latest work of art, and we can’t wait to see what they come up with next year.
