Up in Canada, they had their own versions of the popular Chevrolets that we had here in the states, and they were rebadged as Pontiacs. This really clean 1962 Pontiac Acadian that we found on ProTouring.com [2] was the first year for Pontiac’s version of the Chevy II, and other than the trim it’s basically the same car.
When Cory first got his Acadian about eight years ago, it was sitting on an air bag suspension and showed the typical signs of rust normally found on older cars, but he says it was an otherwise solid car. There were signs of rust below the deck lid, in the quarter panels and windshield pillars, so Cory took the car to Rick Dennis in Kokomo, IN, to get the rust repaired and apply GM Performance White to the roof.

The Pontiac had a tired 327 with a bad valve adjustment, and Cory says it was toast by the time he realized it. So he pulled out the 327 to make room for an early Camaro engine, a mildly built 350 bored .030 over. He also installed a 700R4 to replace the Turbo 350 that came with the car.
Removing the air bag system was on his list of things to do, so he took the car over to Greg Risk at Greg Risk Racecraft [7] who helped Cory get this Acadian as low as he can. Cory says he’s now doing what he originally wanted to do with the car, from the suspension and drivetrain to tubbing the rear wheel wells. As you can see from these pictures, Cory had a lot of plans for it and it’s always rewarding to see your plans coming together this well.
