Drawing spectators and racers to an event year after year can be a challenge for some venues, but not for Bradenton Motorsports Park. The West Central Florida track has been putting on the Snowbird Outlaw Nationals for over 40 years the first weekend of December at what could be considered one of the coolest little outlaw tracks in south. The 44th edition of this race could be the biggest yet, with more exhibition cars and racing than ever before, and you’ll be able to catch all this great racing action as it’s streamed LIVE on SpeedVideo.com!
The Snowbirds have a long-standing tradition of providing great racing and drawing in some of the biggest names in drag racing, according to BMP’s Alan Chervitz.
“Don Garlits used to come to the event when he was actively racing, along with Bob Glidden and many other big NHRA racers. This event really does have some history, and that’s what draws the big crowds each year.”
To help bring in the fans, the track tries to do everything it can to make it a great experience for all. “We really attempt to create a fabulous family event that spans from what kids enjoy, all the way to the hardcore outlaw drag racing fan. The outlaw fan will get to see everything from small-tire racing to Pro Modified, where the kids get to experience those jet cars firing off to the smell of race gas,” Chervitz says.
The on-track action at the Snowbird Outlaw Nationals is always exciting. The event has become a major draw for Pro Modified teams, with over 30 cars making the trip south to compete last year. There’s also a large contingent of small-tire entries, including three-second Pro Drag Radial cars. On average, the Snowbird Outlaw Nationals will see over 300 entries across its 13 racing classes.
To keep the action going, BMP makes sure to run the crowd pleasing exhibition cars as often as they can. “We race the jet cars twice, trying to make it like a long movie for the kids. Typically, we run them once at dusk and again around sunset. When the sun sets, the sky is ablaze with the Jet Jam night of fire at the Snowbird Outlaw Nationals,” Chervitz says.
The Snowbird Outlaw Nationals has something that every racing fan would love during the chilly month of December. If you can’t make the trip to enjoy all of the great racing in the sunshine state, don’t worry, Dragzine will be there providing same day coverage. If that isn’t enough, SpeedVideo.com will be on the property streaming the event in HD, thanks to presenting sponsor MSD and additional supporters Edelbrock, Moser Engineering, and Performance Distributors.
