What happens when you get to be well known for building awesome classic pony cars, like your signature line of GT350 and GT500 Mustangs, along with CR1 Camaros, and customers are hounding you to do restoration work on their vehicles? If you’re Classic Recreations [2], you add on to your facility and open a dedicated restoration side to the company, of course.
The team at Classic Recreations recently added an 8,000-square-foot building to their already-impressive 42,000-square-foot facility in Yukon, Oklahoma, which will be dedicated solely to restoration services. “While we have been focusing on our core customization business, customer demand for restoration services has grown significantly in recent years,” said the owner of Classic Recreations, Jason Engel.
The new expansion means new staff. According to Engel, Classic Recreations has hired a team of specialists to handle the restoration duties, he added “the restoration staff is composed of dedicated restoration specialists. They only work on the restorations in the restoration shop.”
The new facility currently has six individual work stations and is set up to handle body work, metal fabrication, and paint services in house, with no job too large or small for the restoration team, who opened the doors with six projects currently underway, with room for more.
“We have the ability to rotate more than six projects at a time through the stations,” Engel explained. “Not every project is a full-restoration. Some cars have minor tasks and can be easily swapped out, or quickly completed, allowing room for the next vehicle project in one of the six bays.”
Now with a dedicated building and staff, Classic Recreations can perform a wide variety of restoration services without having to compete with the complete-car-building side of the business for resources, while still maintaining the level of quality and craftsmanship that has come to be expected from the Classic Recreations name.
