eBay Find: Street Legal Nova NASCAR Clone With 406 Cubes Of Soul

Nova 1There are classic cars that are merely labeled “classic” because they have a special factory option or they were built before a certain cutoff year, but then there are those rides that are more appropriately labeled because of a portion of history that they may have been a part of. In the case of today’s featured eBay find, a stock car clone is built that represents the apex of General Motors’ involvement with the NASCAR circuit.

Nova 5And it’s definitely true that GM muscle has played a significant role, in the past, in the NASCAR sanction’s famed Grand National series. Our featured ’78 Nova, consequently, pays tribute to the famed track race at the Bowtie end of the spectrum.

That’s because this late Nova out of Blue Ridge, Virginia is built to look exactly like an original Grand National track car, but it also features an L88 Vette hood with functional cowl induction. The car is also built on a front to rear, boxed tube frame with a unique roll bar system that opens with the car’s doors.

The small but fast Nova is 100% street worthy, and can run on anywhere from 87-93 octane fuel. Powered by a 406 motor chasing a Tremec, TKO-600 5-speed, the late-’70s compact features a quick change rear from Winters with a 4.11:1 final ratio. Also built to circle track standard, our featured Bowtie replica uses a NASCAR-style fuel cell, adjustable race seats with 5-point belts and a Painless wiring system.

Nova 2Also unique to our NASCAR tribute Nova is the fact that its door and trunk handles have been completely shaved, the car being unlocked and opened by a remote key setup. Our circle track impersonator is also fitted with an air and heating system from Vintage Air, along with defrost and power windows.

Built for speed and driveability? That’s the kind of muscle we like best, and if NASCAR memorabilia in particular is your thing, then today’s eBay find is just for you!
