Mecum Kissemmee 2017 – Killer 1995 Corvette ZR1 Brings $28K

Screen Shot 2017-01-20 at 1.33.41 PMHow much is a supercar worth? Evidently $28,000. If you doubt the ZR1’s credentials in an age of cheap LS power, think again.

The ZR-1 was extremely quick for its time (0-60 mph in 4.4 seconds, and onto 180+ mph), the huge performance of the LT5 engine was matched equally by its sturdiness. A stock ZR-1 set seven international and world records at a track in Fort Stockton, Texas on March 1, 1990, verified by the FIA (Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile) for the group II, class 11 category. Check out the stats:

  • 100 miles (160 km) at 175.600 mph
  • 500 miles (800 km) at 175.503 mph
  • 1,000 miles (1,600 km) at 174.428 mph
  • 5,000 km (3,100 mi) at 175.710 mph (World Record)
  • 5,000 miles (8,000 km) at 173.791 mph (World Record)
  • 12 Hours Endurance at 175.523 mph
  • 24 Hours Endurance at 175.885 mph for 4,221.256 miles  (World Record)

Mecum’s Kissemmee has reported the sale of a really nice 1995 ZR1 and it throws down the gauntlet of what these old “Corvettes From Hell” are worth.

They only made 448 ZR1’s for 1995 so this car is a rare bird and is equipped as follows:

  • 4 cam 32 valve 350/405 HP engine
  • ZF 6-speed transmission
  • Dana 44 positraction rear axle with 3.54 ratio
  • Twin power sport seats
  • Adjustable ride control suspension
  • Electronic climate control
  • Removable glass top
  • Delco Bose Gold audio
  • Last year of the ZR1 production

The car looks to be all original with it’s tall factory stance, five spoke alloys and signature wide bodywork. Former Corvette Chief EngineerDave McLellan has lent his “John Hancock” under hood as well.

These cars are the sleepers of the C4 lineup and are bargains, grab them now or forever hold your peace.

Mecum Kissimmee 2017, the world’s largest collector-car auction held Jan. 6-15, at Osceola Heritage Park in Kissimmee, Florida, achieved more than $86 million in total sales. Of the nearly 2,700 vehicles to cross the auction block throughout the 10-day auction, a total of 1,981 vehicles were sold, accounting for a 75-percent sell-through rate, an astonishing accomplishment for a reserve-based auction platform. The Road Art® side of Mecum Kissimmee 2017 saw similar success with a 93-percent sell-through rate, a 5-percent increase over last year’s Kissimmee auction. A total of 1,260 pieces of Road Art and rare parts were sold during the auction for a total of $2.5 million.
