[1]Mopar fans are among the craziest and most dedicated car enthusiasts on the planet, and it is a good thing too, because some of the most desirable Mopar muscle cars also happen to be some of the rarest. It is not unheard of for a true HEMI car to sell for $300,000 or more, and there are a few HEMI Mopars that have neared or exceeded a million dollars at auction.
[2]What makes these cars so valuable? It all comes down to documentation. If you’ve got the right paperwork for the right car with the right options, you could quite literally fund your retirement. Hemmings Auto Blog [3] reports that a car they call the “most documented” HEMI Charger is heading to auction, where it could fetch a whole lot of money.
Owned by Steven Segal (not the actor!) this 1970 Dodge Charger is already a rare, desireable car, one of just 56 HEMI Chargers built that year with a four-speed manual transmission. Furthermore, it is one of just ten HEMI Chargers with the R/T SE package, and Segal was even able to locate the original Crager rims and Parnelli Jones tires to give it an authentic, old school vibe.

While the numbers-matching engine has long since been replaced by a period-correct motor, what makes this HEMI is that it comes with the original dealer invoice and files. Another Mopar fan read a previous story on Segal’s Charger, and mailed him the paperwork from the dealership the car was originally sold by. To date, Hemmings says they’ve not come across a better-documented HEMI Charger.
This rare beast will hit the auction block for the May 14-19th Mecum Auction at the Indiana State Fairgrounds [6]. Any guess what it will sell for?
