On April 5-7, this 1967 Shelby GT500 will cross the block at the Mecum Auctions event held in Houston, Texas, with no reserve. An offering such as this is a monumental event, as the possibility of owning this rare Shelby could be granted at or under current market value.

Finished in an optional Lime Gold hue, this GT500 features a numbers matching 428ci 4V V8 (good for an underrated 335 horsepower) and paired with a four-speed manual transmission. According to the original Mecum Auctions listing, the car is registered as Shelby No. 00881.

Allegedly, only 2,048 1967 Shelby GT500s were produced. While the 1967 Shelby GT350 is rare in comparison (with a production number of 1,175 units total), the GT500 is considered definitely more desirable due to its storied powertrain.

If you recall, 1967 was the year that the GT500 was introduced, so it’s a safe bet that this one won’t come cheap. In today’s market, we’ve seen classic Shelby Mustangs like this one exceed more than six figures.

However, for those in the market for one, who happen to have enough scratch, won’t have to bring seven figures to the table like the ultra-rare, one-of-one 1967 Shelby GT500 Super Snake driven by Carroll Shelby himself, so you can play it off as downright affordable.
