Recently on June 18th, the Ohio Technical College [3] and Edelbrock [4]teamed together to help college bound students by offering the OTC/Edelbrock Carburetor Challenge.

Twenty-four students from various high schools competed against each other where each team of two disassembled a carburetor and rebuilt it to see who could complete it correctly in the shortest time. Extra time will be taken off depending on how well the team does on their OTC-Edelbrock Carburetor tests.

The teams were divided into five heats with the four fastest times making it into the main event where a $5,000 scholarship to the Ohio Technical College was on the line. Every student who competed in the challenge received at least a $1,000 dollar scholarship. Second place would receive $4000,  and Third place had $3000 coming their way.

With a very impressive time the group of William Golden and Jacob McKee from Poway High school bested the other students with a time of 8:12:97. It took the team just over eight minutes to completely tear down a carburetor and rebuild it! Do you think you could do any better?

Edelbrock and the Ohio Technical College partnered together to create a specialized school training certificate program, under the Edelbrock Academy (EA) name. The EA will focus on training students on aftermarket performance products.

As students complete modules within the above training programs that feature Edelbrock parts and training, they will receive an EA Certificate of Completion on that part. This program will be available for the first time in the fall of 2011.

All in all the Ohio Technical College and Edelbrock handed out $42,000 in scholarships to OTC. Complete results and times are listed below, for more information on Edelbrock visit their home on the web at Edelbrock.com [4].
