Resto-Modded ’68 Charger to be Auctioned off at Mecum

For some, the appeal of cars is getting their hands dirty and doing their own work on them. For others, they just enjoy driving nice rides. If you prefer to have a finely restored classic rather than a project car, the Mecum [2] Des Moines Auction might just have what you’re looking for. Set to cross the auction block this Saturday is a rare ‘68 HEMI Charger. With this resto-mod, you would be able to enjoy the rest of the summer cruising around with very little work.

[3]In 1968, only 486 Chargers were manufactured. This Charger is one of those 486. The car is an original HEMI four-speed console Charger. In it’s life, it has undergone a complete, professional restoration.

While the engine in this car is not original, the car is equipped with a factory correct ‘68 HEMI 426cui engine with a larger camshaft and aftermarket Edelbrock carburetors for added performance.

The Charger is painted in factory-correct Dark Blue Metallic and has a Pearl White interior, which is also factory correct.

A few minor modifications have been done to the Charger besides beefing up the engine a bit. The Charger sports a custom chrome cover over its factory Dana rear end.

It also has a custom exhaust with powder coated headers. The Charger sits on Magnum 500 wheels and is equipped with slapper bars on the rear.

If you’re interested in this classic resto-mod Charger, it is set to be auctioned off at 2:05p.m. Saturday July 16th at the Mecum auction in Des Moines, Iowa. While we don’t know how much this Charger will go for, one thing is certain- it will be a thrill of a car for the new owner.
