If you owned a stellar 1936 three-window coupe that was built to enjoy, what would you do with it? Drive it of course and that is exactly what Jerry Johns must be doing. This wonderful coupe won a couple of awards at last year’s Goodguys Nashville Nationals. Taking the “One Fine Deuce” award sponsored by Lokar, and the “Deuce Doins Pick” at the show, Johns’ deuce left an impression on us.

This deuce turned up again at the Goodguys North Carolina Nationals earlier this year and took the “Suede & Chrome” award for the impressive exterior work on the coupe. We spotted his deuce again this past weekend at the Goodguys PPG Nationals in Columbus, Ohio, which is a clear signal that Johns actually drives and enjoys his hot rod. For that, we have to give him a tip of the hat.

Despite the flat paint exterior, Johns’ deuce has a real flair with the chrome accents and painted highlights around the body at the hood line. The chrome knock off hubs against the understated steel wheels help pull the vision along the body work without allowing the focus to settle in any one spot. It is a very clean coupe that pleases the eye and invites you to look deeper.

The interior is a sleek and clean as the outside, featuring OE style components and steering with the addition of a 1940 Ford dash. The interior colors contrasts in a delightful way with accents of chrome highlighting the look. A car this nice should be driven and we can’t wait to see where it shows up next.
