How many times have you been under your car changing the oil with the drain pan ready, backing the drain plug out ever so slowly, turn by turn, trying to avoid any splashing or unwanted oil from creating a mess, only to have the oil shoot into the pan and spray you? Worse still, how many of us have had a run of bad luck when draining our oil, like a spill, or if you’re in a hurry, hot oil scalding you? It can happen if you’re not careful. The point is, wouldn’t it be nice if there was a product that could aid you in the oil change process and keep things nice and clean?

Our friends over at Proform have developed and patented a, “No-Mess,” Oil Drain Plug for that very reason. The plug features 12-20 size thread that will accommodate most domestic oil pans. It is treated with a gold iridite finish which means you won’t need to worry about corrosion or durability issues. 

Those are great features to have, but it is the cork-like rubber extension that seals the threaded drain hole that really makes these plugs worth their weight in gold … iridite, that is. The way it works is, the drain plug is backed out until the rubber plug seals the hole, and when you’re ready and have your pan in place you can tug the plug out and release the oil in a more predictable manner. This should mitigate the chances of you dropping the drain plug, making a mess, or coming into contact with hot oil.
