This is the kind of car you can’t just walk past at a show. It’s bright, orange, and loud as hell. We saw it and knew right away that we were going to have to talk to the owner and find out more.
The owner of this car is Dennis McColly of Salem, Oregon, and he has had this Falcon going on two years now. “It’s streetable,” Dennis explained, “It runs cool, it’s fun, and it’s fast as hell.” It’s a straight-axle hotrod that’s ready for anything.
Half-Breed earns its name through its unusual drivetrain. Rather than a conventional Ford setup, this Falcon powered straight down the line by Chrysler. The motor is a completely built 446 cubic-inch Hemi engine with dual C&S built, 850cfm Holley carburetors and an 871-blower.
It also has a heavily build 727 automatic transmission and Dana-60 rearend. To keep something like this cool would be a challenge, so Dennis is running a reversed water-pump and Ron Davis radiator. The cooling equipment will keep this car running cool on the strip and long cruises on the street. It also features Wilwood brakes for stopping power, a B&M Ratchet shifter, and full roll-cage with racing seats.
We love Dennis’s classic build hotrod, and we’d love to see what you folks are driving out there. If you love it, odds are good that we will too, so shoot us an email with a couple pictures and a little information on your ride, you might just see it here as one of our Street Features.
