Bought new in 1989 by Jenifer Zimmer and her husband, this Ford Ranger has been through a few changes over the course of its life. Generally speaking, when you see a Ranger of this vintage, they have a rough-and-tumble look from being used as a beater for the last decade, this Ranger certainly breaks that mold, along with every other.
The couple live in Monrovia, Maryland, and have made this into quite the outstanding hot rod. It came with a simple 4-cylinder engine and a 5-speed manual transmission, and they put it through about as much use as it could handle with 260k miles on the odometer when it entered a new stage in life. “We wanted something different,” Jennifer told us. “Always seeing pro-street S-10s!”
They added a 383 cubic-inch stroker motor, 671 Weiand street blower, two Holley 750cfm double-pumpers, and an under-driven turbo-400 manual transmission. They also added a 9-inch Ford rearend with 3.50:1 gearing and 35-spline axels. It also features drag radials on the back and it mini-tubbed with 7-inches added.
You just don’t see Pro-Street Ranger much these days, but this one is pretty cool and looks liek a fun ride. Jenifer saw a few of our Street Features and reached out to us about her awesome truck, and we were definitely interested in it. We would love to see what you are driving too, so drop us a line and your car could end up as part of our Street Feature series!
