The build on this 1932 Ford rumble seat roadster is something of a tribute to the older style hot rod builds of the ’60s and ’70s. From the leather straps holding down the hood and the pinstriping on the body, to the classic Edelbrock valve covers and retro style air cleaners, you’d think this was a true older build. We were surprised to find out that it was actually built within the last couple of years.
Paul Shager of Sequim, Washington is the owner of this retro-roadster and he drives it every day. “I’m in the mini-storage business,” Paul explained. “I drive it every day when I open up.” It’s not too hard to imagine driving it every day either, when you find out it has heated seats, a GPS, independent front suspension, and front disc brakes. This car was built to both drive and provide comfort.
Beyond the comfort aspect, it was also made to perform and features a Chevrolet small-block 327 cubic-inch engine powered by a four-barrel Edelbrock carburetor. The drivetrain goes on with a 350 automatic transmission along with a Ford 8-inch rearend and 2.90 gears. It really presents the driver with the best of both worlds.
Paul went with a Westcott fiberglass body and built the ’32 because it was popular when he was in high school. “I like this style,” he told us. Paul is reaching back into his high school years with a car that would have been the envy of his classmates.
