Cool Custom ’68 GTO Station Wagon Found on eBay

[1]The Pontiac GTO is often credited with being the first true muscle car. Originally an option on the Pontiac Tempest, the GTO package soon became its own car and spawned many other monikers, including the GTO Judge. Still, the car the GTO was based on, the Tempest, was offered not just as a coupe, but as a sedan and wagon as well.

If you’ve ever wondered what a GTO Wagon looks like, wonder no more. This ’68 Tempest Wagon converted to a GTO fulfills our wildest muscle wagon fantasies in more ways than one, and its up for auction on eBay.

[2]Just 500 custom Pontiac Tempest wagons were built in 1968, already making it quite a rare and desirable car. The owner of this Tempest then went a few steps further to convert his wagon into a GTO-look-a-like. So much work has gone into making this car look “right”, including attaching a real GTO front clip. Of course, it wouldn’t be a GTO without the hood scoops or hood-mounted tachometer.

The inside contains real GTO parts too, such as the seats, Hurst shifter, rally gauges, and all the appropriate emblems and decals. 15” Rally II wheels tire the car together, and this is no doubt one of the most awesome vehicles we ever seen. If GM ever set out to build a GTO muscle wagon, it would have looked like this. Under the hood is a 400 inch 4-barrel Pontiac engine, with a true dual exhaust system. There are almost four days left and bidding has barely topped $10,000, though we’d pay a lot more for this one-of-a-kind car.
