They say in America if you work hard enough, you can have just about anything you want. Jay Leno is living the American dream, having busted his chops as a comedian and splurging on a collection of cars, both classic and contemporary, that surely ranks amongst the greatest in the world. As a result, Leno now hosts his own car segment, where brand new cars come through from time to time.
This week Leno has nothing less than the 2013 SRT Viper in his garage, and while calm and collected at first, once the funnyman is behind the wheel he can barely contain his excitement.
For those who don’t know, the 2013 SRT Viper is the flagship of the new SRT brand. Packing an 8.4 liter V10 engine, 640 horsepower and 600 ft-lbs of torque, the Viper is the very-American supercar Chrysler needed to deliver. Leno was among the first buyers for the original Viper waaaay back in 1992, so we imagine he couldn’t wait to get behind the wheel of the all-new Viper.
SRT brand boss Ralph Gilles stopped by to walk Jay through the car and talk about the various improvements that Chrysler made, including weight savings that keep the 2013 SRT Viper under 3,300 pounds. Once Leno gets behind the wheel, he is all smiles and praise for the new Viper, and we can understand why. Who wouldn’t want to drive around sunny SoCal in one of the newest and hottest sports cars on the market?
Work hard, and maybe one day you’ll be right where Leno is today.
