While it’s no secret that we’re huge fans of ’69 Chargers, it’s likely also no secret that we’re big fans of the General himself. This past weekend the very first General Lee sold at the Barrett Jackson auction for $110,000, and we’re starting to wonder of perhaps it might be possible to track down some other Generals used on screen as investments for ourselves.
We recently stumbled upon some footage from the old ’80’s motorcycle themed TV show Street Hawk, and it would appear that at least one, and perhaps two, former General Lee’s were used to portray the car used by the bad guys. Even more interesting was the fact that the Charger was driven by none other than a young George Clooney!
Street Hawk was a one season TV show in 1985 and lasted just 13 episodes. In it Rex Smith starred as a cop who secretly fought crime as the test pilot for a prototype combat motorcycle. The motorcycle itself was essentially a two wheeled non-talking version of KITT, the black Trans Am from Knight Rider, as the motorcycle could jump by using electronic wizardry and move at amazingly fast speeds.
