Every so often we stumble across a video that leaves us wanting more, and here is one to put in that file next to Ken Block’s latest Gymkhana with a heavily-modified ’65 shutting down the streets of L.A. During its span of 1:37, the 50 Years of Fun video features some of the best modified Mustangs in different generations hooning across the desert, and leaving us to drool all over our keyboards. To date we haven’t seen a better way to celebrate five decades of Mustang fun.
This Ford Racing Performance video features Formula Drift’s best such as the one and only Mustang drifter Vaughn Gittin Jr, 2014 Champion Chris Forsberg, and Ryan Tuerck, FD’s 2009 runner-up.
The video starts off with Mike Maier’s blue coupe rolling down a back desert road complete with tumbleweeds, and is soon joined by a brand new ’15 RTR Mustang in an awesome take of new versus old. The video also features the highly-anticipated ’15 RTR Spec 5 concept, the famous ’69 RTR-X, and Vaughn’s ’13/’14 Gotta-Have-It-Green RTR. Other cars include the mean Creations ‘n Chrome “Top Notch” Fox body owned by Gary Watson, another classic blue ‘Stang, vintage red Mach 1, and the bad V10 powered Mustang Evolution Mustang II.
“Ford Mustang has had an epic 50 year history that I am honored to have been a part of for the last 10 years. Like millions of other Mustang owners, I have had some of the greatest moments and memories of my life smiling behind the wheel of this vehicle” – Vaughn Gittin Jr.
Sure, commenters have lamented the absence of the fourth-gen car. However, the video is short and sweet (oh, and it’s sweet) and not every Mustang under the sun can be featured. That doesn’t mean that the car is any less important. Just sit back, turn the volume up and enjoy.
