The whole world is on the edge of their seat just waiting for the Hellcat Hemi Challenger to make it’s official numbers known. We only know that it’s the most powerful engine Chrysler has ever produced, and that figures are to be in the high 600 to possibly 700 horsepower range. Price speculation has been that it will be comparable to the new Z/28’s price tag, but others think possibly in the mid $50,000-60,000.
What we do know is that the 6.2 liter supercharged Hemi is an all new engine, with stronger internals for high boost, and that the car sounds wicked. We know the dash is going to look like a video game on steroids, with user-customizable displays, and that the transmission choices are the 6-speed manual or their 8-speed automatic. The interior will have a few choices in colors, and the gauges will have red illumination – the only Chrysler vehicles to have it, according to the SRT web site.
While most everyone is aware that the Hellcat Hemi Challenger isn’t available, then CEO of SRT brand Ralph Gilles did tell us they had six cars that were going through some testing a couple of months ago. As we near the planned August release of the Hellcat Challenger, we come across some videos of them cruising around town, and pulling out of a driveway.
From what we’ve been informed, the Sublime Challenger is a Hellcat, as detected by all of the clues such as the hood, missing fog lamps, supercharged emblem, the wheels and the rear spoiler. According to YouTube user Glenn Kaufman, the car in the video above is being driven by the Chief Engineer of the Challenger Platform. It’s just a small taste of what’s to come, and we’re all waiting on the edge of our seats, too.
Below is a video from last month when CEO Dodge Brand, Tim Kuniskis, revealed the Hellcat Hemi to a group. Who wishes they were there?
