Video: This Boosted Jeep SRT8 Is An 8 Second Monster

When most people think of a Jeep they think of rock crawling adventures in the mountains and off-road dominance. When you mention the Jeep SRT8, most people think of an impractical SUV that is fun and quick off the line, but gets barely over 300 miles on a tank of gas; and that’s only if you drive it like a station wagon.

That Racing Channel recently posted a video on their YouTube channel showing off an AWD 2007 Jeep SRT8 using a massive Precision Turbo and Engine (PTE) custom turbo kit done by Stage 6 Motorsports, out of Jacksonville, Florida.

This Jeep SRT8 project started at Stage 6 with a built 6.1L HEMI and custom fabricated intake manifold with a massive in the engine bay.

Stage 6 then added some custom charge pipes connected to a high efficiency air to water intercooler, rated for up to 3,000 horsepower. The hood also had to be modified to add cutouts for the exhaust and wastegate dump that come directly off of the turbo.

The only way to get all of that power to the ground was with a Proformance Racing built TH400 transmission using a ProTorque Gen X torque converter and further down the driveline a Ford 8.8 rear end was used. Also being AWD, a full time 50/50 built transfer case from SCS Gearbox was utilized.

The Jeep was tuned on the stock ECU by Joel Applegate, the engine calibrator for Chrysler’s SRT division, using DiabloSport‘s CMR custom tuning software and uses RacePak‘s data logging system at the strip. This boosted SUV makes 1,300 horsepower and at the strip has an impressive 1/4 mile E.T. of 8.303 seconds, with a trap speed of 167.41 miles per hour.
