Adding to the Mustang’s performance is a Tremec TKO five-speed transmission, Ford nine-inch rear end with 4.10 gears and disc brakes on all four corners. The suspension system is set up for road course and street use with adjustable strut rods, lower control arms and front coil overs. Like any true race car, the Mustang also features a full race cage and a fuel cell.
Surprisingly, this car is set up to run on 93-octane pump gas, making it easier to race on a budget.
The Mustang’s set-up is impressive, but its reputation is even better. This car has raced all over the south east with wins at Road Atlanta, track records at Charlotte Motor Speedway, Road Atlanta and the Talladega Grand Prix, and placements at many NASA Southeast events.
In just two years, this car has achieved 30 podium finishes and 20 first-place wins. That’s quite the accomplishment for coming in as a rookie in 2009.
