What Happens When a Viper and a Corvette Combine?

[1]

The car world is full of bastardized versions of awesome automobiles. One of the most popular hack jobs is converting a Pontiac Fiero into a Ferrari look-alike (though we imagine it must be fun to fool the uninitiated). Beauty is in the eye of the beholder though, and many creative people have built custom cars by combining two unlikely candidates. Yet this might be the most abstract, out there combo-job we have ever seen.

Hemmings Auto Blog [2] came across this half-Viper, half-Corvette that just leaves us a little bit bewildered.

[3]At first glance, this car looks like a very, very funky Viper. The front end all the way back to the end of the doors is intact, but the rear end is just…odd. Certainly not like any Viper we have ever seen before. It looks like something from the British isles, like the engineers just stopped building the car after they finished the cab. What is going on here?

Turns out this is a 2000 Viper body sitting on the frame of a 1986 Chevrolet Corvette. As if this car could get any weirder, rather than go with the Viper’s V10 engine, this crazy creation instead has the Corvette’s 5.7 liter V8 and 4-speed transmission. Even the interior with parts from the Corvette, though they have been color-coordinated with the rest of the Viper’s red-and-white exterior. Apparently all the options like power windows, air conditioning, tilt wheel, and even the power seats work.

It certainly is a stand out car that would keep people scratching their heads. What would you pay for this odd job?
