Watson StreetWorks’ 5th Annual Open House Excites The Northeast

Watson’s StreetWorks, the company that has been offering specialized high-tech products for the do-it-yourself custom car builders for years, opened their doors to the public and invited everyone to become a part of the family for a show and shine event for the 5th straight year.

The folks at Watson’s have always supported the custom builders by providing unique products that help make custom car projects unique to the builder. “Make it your own” is an often heard term around the Watson StreetWorks’ facility, and what better way to show off those unique builds than a gathering at the shop?

This year’s open house was scheduled for Saturday, May 20, from 9:00 in the morning to early afternoon. Unlike year’s week-long threat of rainy weather, this year’s show had been nothing but a bright, sunny, and warm New England spring day. Each year brings out more cars and enthusiasts, and this year was no exception. If things continue on this trend, we expect over 100 cars to appear at next year’s show.

The variety of vehicles attending were as diversified as the owners of the vehicles. From custom builders to the local mechanics with their daily drivers, it seemed as if everyone from the area made their way to the Watson’s shop.

As with every year’s open house, the NSRA safety team was on hand to conduct complimentary inspections for everyone that requested. The NSRA volunteer safety program is one of the best things going in the street rod world during show season, and it is no surprise that Watson’s StreetWorks requested the NSRA safety inspection team for the event. The Watson’s team puts a lot of emphasis on safety and safety products as evidenced by their multiple NSRA best new safety product of the year awards.

Last year’s open house was so popular that the local mailman decided to take his USPS contracted break at the event. Joining the crowd, the postal worker lifted the hood on his 24-year-old delivery vehicle to allow the ambient air to provide some cooling to the engine as he enjoyed the free hot dogs and soda. It’s not everyday that citizens can enjoy a closer look at one of the USPS’s Long Life Vehicles (LLV). This year’s open house had more of the same, with vehicle debuts and previews of project builds that normally don’t see the light of day until they are completely finished.
