SPEEDTV has had a number of drag racing-oriented televisions shows on in the past few years, perhaps the best known being “Pinks.” Their latest show centered on the 1,320 is called Pass Time, where three judges ask contestants one question each and then try to guess how fast their car will go in the quarter mile. It’s basically bracket racing, but with a twist, and everything from supercharged muscle cars to gutted-but-stock Beetles turn up on the show.
So these judges must be pretty smart guys, right? You would think so. But Mustangs Daily came across this YouTube video of a ROUSHcharged 2011 5.0 Mustang GT on the show, and the judges guesses were way, way off. So let us ask you, how fast do you think a supercharged 5.0 will go?
Perhaps it was the quiet demeanor of this black supercharged 5.0 that threw the judges off, as the car is indeed very quiet. Even during the burnout, it hardly sounded like a 10-second car, and while the owner admitted to having slickers and a pulley swap done, this Mustang is vewy, vewy quiet (cue Elmer Fudd.) The judges dial in with times ranging from a high of 14 seconds (really??) to a low of 11.1 seconds. Not even close guys.
When the time finally comes for this quiet storm of a ‘Stang to run down the track, it absolutely flies down the dragstrip. The final time? 10.57 seconds at 131 mph. These guys must have been Camaro fans to have been so far off.
