Killer Bees have been the subject of news stories, bad made for TV movies on Fox (anyone remember Deadly Invasion: The Killer Bee Nightmare?) and have plagued pest control professionals for years now. According to Matt Hardigree of Jalopnik, a swarm of bees surrounded a Ford Fairlane near the MSR Houston Track in Angleton, TX.
In the article Hardigree describes the horror stories told by native Texans regarding the ferocity and deadly nature of Africanized Bees, also known as “killer bees.” After fighting his initial instinct to flee the scene, Hardigree paused and channeled his inner National Geographic journalist mindset and stuck around to witness the bee’s attacking the defenseless Fairlane.
Hardigree seized the opportunity to document the plight on the Fairlane and encouraged photojournalist Zerin Dube to catch action on camera. In Dube’s picture the bees are clearly gathered on the driver’s side fender and it is hard not to notice the for sale sign clearly posted on the windshield.
Despite the 260 V8 engine, this Fairlane is clearly slowed down by the additional weight added by the sheer number of bees. Perhaps the swarm or hive under the hood would be a selling point for a bee keeper or farmer, but for the average automotive consumer would consider this to “bee” an issue.
