VP Racing Fuels is an industry front-runner when it comes to the needs of racers. Their extensive line of fuels range widely in applications, and formulations but stay narrowed down when it comes to consistency and quality.
Their growing number of “Madditives” have opened up the opportunity for consumers to impart some of the beneficial features of VP fuels into pump gas or diesel. It’s no secret that performance is epensive, and race fuel is certainly not exempt. Often ranging from five to ten times more expensive than pump gas, the weekend racer can feel the sting at the pump.
To accommodate the racer that needs a high-octane fuel like C16, but also needs to cut costs, VP has released X16, a more cost-effective alternative. According to Brad Horton of VP, “X16 is like a cheaper version of C16, it’s a non-oxygenated, high-octane, leaded fuel, good for a general purpose wide range of engines up to about 15 to 15.5:1 compression. You can squirt a little bit of nitrous on it, won’t hurt it.”
We talked to Chris Wall of VP about the growth of VP into surrounding markets, “The whole line of Madditives has been around a few years, but it’s starting to really get traction. We’re getting approached by other companies, big retailers. We launched the race oil last year, a lot of racers that have been using VP over the years approached us and it was not something we intended to do but from a demand standpoint. Everybody has a lawn mower and a weed-eater, this business has exploded.” said Wall.
We look forward to seeing more of VP as they extend their partnerships with IMSA, and NMCA and as they continue to add products to their portfolio of fuels and additives.
