In addition to celebrating their 103rd anniversary in business, the Borgeson team is celebrating the future release of a new GM Power Steering gearbox for popular GM muscle and street cars of the 1960s and 1970s. These include the 67-92 Camaro, 64-77 Chevelle, 68-74 Nova, and the 78-87 GM G-Body cars.

“These are all new, including an all new housing,” said Jeff Grantmeyer. “Previously we bought cores and refurbished them, which takes a lot to make those old units worthy of putting our name on it.” When the company compared the cost of refurbishing old cores to the price of casing new housings, “There really wasn’t that much difference,” he added.

Borgeson is looking at shipping the new steering boxes to customers sometime in the spring of 2018 – great news for enthusiasts looking to upgrade their dying GM power steering gearbox with a Borgeson street and performance upgrade.

According to Grantmeyer, the all new Borgeson street and performance power steering box has a 12.7:1 ratio, “the quickest ratio available in this series of gearboxes,” he stated. This puts the upgrade’s biggest benefit on road feel and response.

“The unit is a direct bolt-in installation, and in addition to our incredibly easy to understand and follow instructions, the unit fits the original power steering pitman arm,” said Grantmeyer. “Customers can use either flare or O-ring hoses with adapters that are included.”
