PRI 2013: Lucas Oil’s New Hot Rod Oil And More!

Lucas Oil formulated its new Hot Rod & Classic High Performance motor oil to service the hot rod and classic car segments. As these vehicles often spend long periods of time off the road in the winter months, the additive package is designed to combat the elements.

“The Hot Rod & Classic High Performance oil is designed for classic cars that need the extra zinc in the formula. In addition, we’ve added rust and corrosion inhibitors, and we feel that the oil is perfect for cars that sit for a long period of time between runs,” explains Lucas’ Dave Uhle.

The oil is manufactured using a quality paraffinic base and includes an additive package with high levels of zinc (2,100 ppm), molybdenum and phosphorous. These additives provide protection under severe conditions, lower oil temperatures and minimize metal fatigue. It is designed for vehicles without catalytic converters and is compatible with methanol and all racing fuels.

lucas5Also on display is Lucas’ High Performance 50-weight synthetic motorcycle oil. The pure synthetic formulation has a Lucas-exclusive additive package and is designed for use in all four-stroke air-cooled V-Twin/Opposed Twin/Slant Twin engines made after 1984. The oil offers excellent thermal stability, resists oxidation, reduces operating temperatures, and extends oil change intervals.

According to Uhle, “This is the best engine oil you can put into a V-Twin engine. They normally come with 20W50, but unless you’re riding around in the winter you don’t need 20-weight oil in your motorcycle.”

Snowmobilers have been begging for a full synthetic 2-stroke oil for years, and Lucas has answered the call. It’s formulated to suppress exhaust smoke, has excellent cold temperature properties and can be poured in temperatures as low as -60 degrees F. It can be used in all 2-stroke applications where low ash systems are required.

With the popularity of ethanol-based fuels exploding, Lucas has designed a new ethanol fuel conditioner to be used with E-10, E-15, and E-85 blends. It contains special cleaning agents that help to clean and maintain injectors and carburetors, along with oxidation inhibitors that stabilize the fuel and prevent the formation of varnish and gums that can hurt performance.

Uhle also says, “We’re branching out into more functional lubricants including our new brake fluid. It’s available in both DOT3 and DOT4 formulations and has a higher boiling point than other products on the market.”
