Taylor Cable’s 8mm Spiro-Pro Series spark plug wires have been a popular race plug wire for a while now. The wires feature the colorful looks that Taylor sparkplug wire fans like, plus the affordability that race teams can handle.
For 2019, Taylor took their high-performance line of 8mm wires, which feature a two-layer silicone jacket that withstands temperatures up to 600-degrees, and added “Extreme Service” ceramic boots.
The Extreme Service Ceramic 8mm Spiro Pro universal wire sets are available with white or black ceramic boots that offer superior heat protection. Taylor Cable’s Justin Askren said the ceramic boots “can handle temperatures up to 2,000-degrees Fahrenheit, with boot configurations in 90-, 180-, or 135-degree angles.”
“These wires are perfect for RV’s, motorhomes, tow vehicles, or any vehicle where high-heat is a concern,” said Askren. “Custom sets are available.”
We noticed the spec sheet offered a choice of colors, many of them the same colors that Taylor has become known for. From the standard black and white wires to several other choices for engine builders with some flair. Purple, Red, Orange, Yellow, Lime, Blue, Pink, and Teal are available in the universal sets.
The wire is Taylor’s most popular 8mm 350 ohm-per-foot wire series. This wire is designed to work with modern multiple spark discharge ignition systems.
The Extreme Service Ceramic 8mm Spiro Pro sets are also offered in Taylor’s race-fit and custom-fit kits.
