Over the last few years Mopar has been growing its presence at the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show. This year, FCA displayed the drag-oriented, street-legal, 392 HEMI V-8 engine-powered 2019 Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack 1320, among other things like NHRA racer Leah Pritchett’s Mopar Dodge Challenger Drag Pak car, which she drove to the 2018 NHRA Factory Stock Showdown World Championship, and Jeeps customized with new Jeep Performance Parts and accessories.
One of the main attractions at the Mmpar booth were the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon simulators that allowed SEMA attendees to go head-to-head and compete in the “Drag Strip Showdown,” a contest in which the top four drivers with the best simulator race times will win a trip to the Dodge//SRT Bondurant Drag Racing School near Phoenix.
While a lot was going on at the Mopar booth, we also enjoyed many of the cars seen throughout the show. Here is what caught our eye:
The @BaggedCat
According to the @BaggedCat Instagram profile, this Challenger has been fitted with Borla Exhaust, Plain An Simple lights, and has had work done by Farmuh Performance, Midnight Custom Cars, and Get Dipped Services.
My favorite elements of this build include the suspension from Air Lift Performance, exaggerated flairs from Clinched Flairs, and the killer Ferrara Wheels.
2019 Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack 1320 and the 1320 Club
During the event, Dodge announced the launch of the “1320 Club” on Dodge Garage. The 1320 Club celebrates the achievements of enthusiasts competing in sanctioned quarter-mile drag races. Members have the opportunity to show off their official drag strip accomplishments with pride, and challenge themselves and fellow racers to best their times to earn a top spot on either the Stock or Modified 1320 Club Leaderboard.
According to Dodge, all 1320 Club members will have the ability to create a public profile displaying their rides, take the safe racing pledge, comment on entries, submit time slips for review and approval, find the next drag strip to conquer, view the most recent racing news articles and earn digital achievement badges.
Dodge Challenger SRT Demon from SpeedKore Performance Group
This Demon features Speedkore’s carbon fiber body conversion as well as the first twin-turbo conversion from Gearhead Fabrications. By removing the factory supercharger and integrating a pair of Precision Engineering turbos, the 6.2-liter Hemi V8 produces 1,203 horsepower at the wheels.
With NHRA record-breaker Leah Pritchett at the wheel, the SpeedKore Demon set a world record quarter-mile time of 8.77sec at 161.57mph.
The “Hellephant”
The “Hellephant” is a 426 Supercharged Mopar Crate HEMI engine which is the first crate engine offered by an OEM to produce 1,000-horsepower. For its debut, the engine was fitted into a 1968 Dodge “Super Charger” Concept.
The engine name is a call out to the legendary 426 HEMI engine, first introduced in 1964 and nicknamed the “elephant” for its power and size, combined with the 707-horsepower Mopar “Hellcrate” engine, revealed last year at the 2017 SEMA Show.
