With the perfect backdrop of the 2015 SEMA Show, Wheel Vintiques unveiled its latest project, a beautiful 1970 Pontiac GTO Judge owned by company president, Wade Kawasaki. Shown for the very first time in the Wheel Vintiques booth, it was appropriately located in Hot Rod Alley in the Central hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center.
Kawasaki and car builder Bodie Stroud were on-hand for the unveiling, delighting in the “oohs and aahs” of the gathered media. “This is one of the most original GTO Judges that I’ve ever run across, and I’m proud to showcase it in the Wheel Vintiques SEMA booth this year,” said Kawasaki.
The restoration, performed by Bodie Stroud Industries, is a numbers-matching restoration. As Kawasaki pointed out, It was an excellent survivor before the restoration began, and the end result is a beautiful, and very authentic musclecar. “I hate to say restorations are easy, but this one was,” Stroud said, then explained that the original car was a clean canvas to work with.
The full frame-off restoration was completed in three short months, beginning with the ultra clean musclecar with 44,000 original miles. The result was this factory-fresh, show car perfect restoration.
Features include the original 400 cubic-inch Ram Air III engine which was verified to have matching date codes on every component, including the carburetor. Many restoration components came from Original Parts Group, Trim Parts, Classic Tube, PUI Interiors, National Parts Depot and PPG, along with other companies.
Wheel Vintiques was proud to show their involvement, along with Coker Tires, by showcasing Firestone Wide Oval raised white letter tires, wrapped around Pontiac Rallye II wheels. This authentic combination adds value to the car and gives it the period correct look. The end result is a true work of art on a very popular and sought after musclecar.
