McLeod Racing has a number of new products on the floor, aimed at a much wider array of vehicles and applications than ever before.
“We have a new RXT clutch and flywheel kit for the 2011-2017 Mustang GT, and we’ve also got a new SFI-approved flywheel for both the small-block and big-block Chevrolet,” says Brian Gwin of McLeod. “We also are releasing a line of twin-disc clutch kits and shifters for Hondas, which is new for us.”
However, one of the most popular new products is probably one of the most surprising as well, coming from a company known primarily for their manual transmission products.
“Our automatic transmission rebuild kit for the Mustang’s new 10-speed transmission is probably the most exciting new product we have here,” Gwin says. “We just finished the design on Friday, and there are currently only two kits in existence: the one in our booth and the one in the New Products Showcase. They really changed a lot of things in the 2018 Mustang manual and automatic transmissions, and that really caught the market off guard, so we’ve been working on that all of this year.”
In addition to automatic transmission rebuild kits, McLeod is also exploring additional new-to-them venues beyond drag racing. “This company started as a drag racing company,” Gwin explains. “Now, we are also going to be getting into road racing and drifting clutch designs very soon. We’re basically taking our existing designs and lightening them up. Since you want the least amount of rotating mass in those motorsports, but still need the strength, we are taking what we already have, and making it smaller to make it lighter.”
