Roshan Poptani and Boost District are at it again. Even though the temperatures in Texas are already approaching those on the sun’s surface and it’s only June, the drag strips are open and there is racing and testing to be done. Recently, Roshan returned to Texas Motorplex to have a final test session with the world’s quickest twin-turbo C8 Corvette E-Ray in its current build state before his Boost District team performs additional upgrades to the car.
We have previously covered this build here, but to give a quick recap, this car is a 2024 C8 Corvette E-Ray that Boost District is using to develop its twin-turbo system. This iteration of Roshan’s E-Ray makes 1,030-wheel horsepower and features upgraded connecting rods and pistons to handle the boost from the twin turbochargers. While they were at it, the DCT automatic transmission was also upgraded.
The E-Ray utilizes an all-wheel-drive system with its front electric drive motors assisting the 6.2L LT engine in the rear. This system gives the C8 E-Ray a significant advantage over the C8 Stingray and Z06 when launching the car from a standstill. However, during prior testing, Roshan fought traction when trying to launch his E-Ray hard. For this test session, he swapped the factory rear carbon fiber wheels for 18-inch diameter aluminum wheels with Mickey Thompson ET Street R drag radial tires. The sticky drag radials should help tremendously in the traction department even in the Texas heat.
The test passes were all made at night once the sun had set, but according to Roshan, the outside temperature was still well above 90 degrees Fahrenheit. On the first test pass, Roshan points out the car had been driven from the Boost District facility to the track — a distance of 25 miles — and only cooled down for approximately 10 minutes. This resulted in elevated intake air temperatures in the 140-degree range, but the twin-turbo E-Ray went 1.49 seconds to the 60-foot and 9.69 seconds to the quarter mile at 145mph. Although this was not the quickest the car had ever been in the quarter mile, it was a new best 60-foot time. “If we can ice it down and cool it down, it’s going fast tonight,” Roshan says.

After cooling the E-Ray down for an hour Roshan was ready to make a second pass. For this pass, ice was added to the intercooler system and a few tuning changes were made after reviewing the data logs. With nighttime temperatures hovering around 85 degrees, traction was still a concern even with the drag radials on the car. Although the car spun slightly according to Roshan, the second pass resulted in a new personal best 60-foot time in the E-Ray of 1.45 seconds and a new best quarter-mile time of 9.55 seconds at 145mph.
Having already reset his own record for the quickest C8 E-Ray quarter mile during this test session, Roshan cooled the car down once again before heading up to the starting line to make a final pass of the night. Although he tried to be more aggressive with the launch, the car went 1.45 seconds to the 60-foot for the second time. However this time the E-Ray managed to cover the quarter mile in 9.50 seconds at 149mph and reset the record for the world’s quickest C8 E-Ray.
This 1,000-wheel horsepower combination has proven itself as a solid package for C8 E-Ray owners who want a car with good street manners and the ability to drive to the track and rip mid-nine second quarter mile passes. According to Roshan, his C8 E-Ray is headed back to the Boost District lab to undergo the next round of upgrades to develop the next package which will likely be 1,200 wheel horsepower or more. We look forward to seeing the car back out soon and witnessing Roshan crush his record again.
