There are few Ford enthusiasts who would pass up the chance to own a 1965 Mustang. The iconic bodylines, signature Pony grille emblem, and the familiar purr of a 289 under the hood are enough to drive anyone crazy – in a good way. But what happens if you turned the key to find that the expected purr didn’t emit from the tailpipes?
In Las Vegas, Larry Gareffa and his son have created a fully electric 1965 Mustang. It runs on twelve car batteries, and Sparky, as they’ve named the creation, is capable of traveling 30 miles at up to 55mph. According to Gareffa, the Mustang can be charged at home for the cost of about a dollar per day.
Gareffa and his son have spent hundreds of hours in their garage at home assembling the project after selling the original engine to pay for cosmetics.
“If I can do this, and electric cars are becoming a thing now, why couldn’t I build something to show people you can still have a classic car and convert it,” said Gareffa.

Bottom line, this enthusiast isn’t buying it. Who would want a silent Mustang?
