ICON Pistons Goes Mopar With Big-Block B/RB And Gen-III Hemi Slugs

We’ve talked about ICON’s forged pistons in a number of articles and projects. So when the team announces new applications, our ears perk up. Especially when it’s an application we don’t typically much of. In this case, it’s big-block Mopar engines, specifically with the B1 cylinder head.

The new line of B/RB big-block pistons in the ICON Premium are all made from 2618 aluminum alloy for use in big-power applications. Continuing the “big power” theme, the top ring groove is laterally gas-ported for exceptional ring seal, and both the ring groove and crown are hard-anodized for long service life in severe conditions. All of the pistons also come with UEM’s M42 low-friction skirt coating.

ICON Pistons

All of ICONs new pistons fall under the “Premium” line. All are made from forged 2618 aluminum and include UEM’s M42 low-friction skirt coating.

Available in a range of crown volumes ranging from -0.55cc to +6.5cc and compression heights for a variety of deck heights and rod lengths, these pistons cover 493-cube combos up to 572s. All of the pistons come with ring sets consisting of a .043-inch top ring, 1/16-inch second ring, and 3/16-inch oil control ring, along with upgraded 4130-steel wrist pins.

Moving to the modern Mopar side, UEM’s ICON Premium line has a large number of new piston part numbers for the Gen-III Hemis. Designed around a 6.125-inch rod with strokes ranging from 3.724 inches up to 4.055 inches, the pistons are available by themselves or in a set with rings. Made from forged 2618 alloy, the pistons all feature 1.5mm top and second rings, with a 3.0mm oil ring.

Available in both dish and dome crowns ranging from +23cc to -14.6cc for compression ratios ranging from 8.7:1 to 12.0:1, all of the Gen-III Hemi pistons come with M42 skirt coating as well, and the kits come with wrist pins and spiral locks.
