A good action movie can always be improved by the starring role of an American muscle car. Just think about it- would Smokey and the Bandit, Gone in 60 Seconds or The Dukes of Hazzard have been the same without their American muscle car stars? Well, coming out this December is another action thriller with an American muscle car in a leading roll but this time its one of our beloved Chevy models. Check out the 1970 Chevelle in the movie trailer for Jack Reacher above.
Debuting on December 21st, Jack Reacher is the story of a man that shares the same name (played by Tom Cruise) that finds himself as a drifter after formerly working as a military investigator. Based off Lee Child’s best-selling Jack Reacher book “One Shot,” the story picks up with Reacher getting involved in a case where a military-trained sniper is accused of gunning down five innocent civilians.
Jumping back in action, Reacher sets out to prove the sniper is not responsible for the crime. Helping Reacher with his mission is none other than a mean 1970 Chevelle SS, decked out in classic red paint with black stripes.
While having the classic Chevy as a major part of the film is exciting, it brings up the question of how far is too far when using vehicles in action thrillers. Unfortunately, Reacher’s Chevelle gets pretty beat up in some scenes but that doesn’t stop the appeal of seeing the car in its leading role on the big screen. If anything, it makes this movie worth watching even more.
Jack Reacher comes out in theaters on December 21st. Sounds like a perfect opportunity to take a break from the holidays and get back in touch with your classic Chevy passion.
