In the United States, right-hand drive cars are pretty rare, especially when it comes to classic muscle cars. However, take a trip across the pond to the United Kingdom and Europe, or down under to Australia and you are sure to see many more. Sourcing a right-hand drive column for such cars could prove to be a challenge, but Ididit has announced a new right-hand drive collapsible column in its Universal Series thus eliminating the search and providing a solution.
“The Universal Series RHD Collapsible Column is the safest, easiest way to update the steering on right-hand drive vehicles,” said Marty Waterstraut of Ididit. “We’re excited to provide a complete system solution for our Australian and European customers.”
According to Ididit, the column is available in 28-, 30-, 33-, and 35-inch sizes for General Motors, Ford, and Chrysler models with a three or four speed automatic transmission and are compatible with most aftermarket wiring via standard 3-⅞-inch wiring plug.
Other highlights and perks? The columns are fully adjustable and have an indexable lower shift lever for simple install as well as 8-tilt positions for driving. Safety features include self-cancelling turn signals, four-way flashers, horn wiring and a Neutral safety switch that works with back-up lights.
Currently the columns are offered in bare steel (1280300010), chrome (1280300020) and black powder-coat (1280300051) finishes. Retail pricing ranges from $775 to $982.
