At this year’s PRI Show EngineQuest rolled out their all-new Cast Iron 454 GM Street Cylinder Head and their 502 GM Gen V & VI series heads. We caught up with Eric Haugland to find out the inside scoop. Haugland shared with us some more information about this expanded product line up, “EQ big-block Chevy replacement cylinder heads surpass any production unit by producing outstanding horsepower and torque improvements for virtually all big-block Chevy engines from a mild 454 to a supercharged 572. Offering excellent valve life and durability allow these new big-block heads to be used for lengthy racing life.” But their reliability and power gains aren’t just for the avid racer as any performance street build can benefit from a good cylinder head swap offering superior flow.

The new EQ cast iron heads offer superior flow characteristics when tested against others and are available with either a 320cc (454 part #CH454A) or 360cc (454 part #CH454B) intake runner. They are cast, machined, and assembled with great features such as multi-angled intake seats and radiused exhaust valve seats, revised water jackets for better thermal conductivity allowing for reduced chance of detonation. They also offer thick deck surfaces, hardened exhaust valve seat, manganese intake and bronze exhaust valve guides. These heads also have a 119cc chamber volume that is “compression friendly” for street or marine applications.
