Have you ever thought to yourself, “Man, just once I wish I could win a raffle, drawing, or sweepstakes”? We all have, and we’re certain that John and Val Martin used to think the same thing. But that all changed for them when they were the recipients of a new RideTech StreetGrip suspension for their ’87 Chevy C10.
We thought it silly to ask the couple what they’re thoughts were about winning a complete performance suspension for their truck – we’re almost certain we know the response, but we did want to get their input about what they thought of the kit, and how the truck rides now that it handles like a true corner carver. According to John, “The truck was stock when we left Illinois for the FM3 Cars and Cones RoadTrip. On Thursday, the kit was put on by the people at Ridetech, and as soon as the truck hit the ground and I saw the stance and loved it.”
“I told Val ‘this thing is going handle way better’. She looked at me and said ‘good, but what’s it going ride like going down the road?’ About 20 miles after we left Ridetech, I hear my wife say, ‘it rides better than before’. I was surprised as well, because ride quality truly is better than stock, even with it being lowered 5 inches up front, and 6 inches on the rear.”
John continued, “The handling was expected to improve as well, but even that exceeded my expectations. There is very minimal lean, and it turns-in tremendously well all the way through a corner. With the truck’s ride and handling improved, it still retains up to 1,100 pounds of hauling capacity. This way, everyone in our group has extra trunk space for any trip.”
John and Val were the lucky recipients of the StreetGrip suspension when their names were called during the FM3 Road Trip, which is a charity driving event that brings enthusiasts together for a great cause. Not only did they win the suspension, but the folks at RideTech even installed it for the couple. That makes this prize grand!
RideTech is grateful to the folks at the FM3 charity for hosting such a great driving tour. They also wanted us to let you know that if you want a chance to win a suspension kit for your ride, sign up for next year’s event. Remember that Cars N Cones is about giving. As a participant, plan on making a few charitable donations along the way. The FM3 Road Trip raised more than $25,000 this year for the Daphne Reynolds Kick “C” Fund. Way to go everyone.
We congratulate John and Val Martin on winning the STreetGrip suspension, and RideTech for their contribution to this great truck. Check out RideTech for all your performance suspension needs.
