SEMA 2014: Celebrating 50 Years, Covercraft Still Has You Covered Up

CCSEMA004There are those who say their old beat up truck is fine with a blue tarp, but those of us with nicer vehicles often want a better way to protect our vehicles from the elements. Tarps don’t cut it when your baby needs to be covered up, and Covercraft has been around for 50 years providing a solution to bad weather, UV rays, industrial fallout, tree sap, and everything else that Mother Nature wants to throw at your vehicle.

Covercraft car covers are available in various styles and fabrics, from protecting a car in the garage to protecting your stored vehicle outside in the weather. We met with them this year at SEMA and asked the difficult questions to find out why this company has been around as long as they have.

CCSEMA003So how does a company with a car cover come up with a better idea? “We brainstorm on new ideas, we ask ourselves what the customer wants, and how can we do it better,” Marketing Assistant Jesse Alvarado said.

He also told us that many people feel the fabric and wonder if it will scratch the paint. “It’s not the fabric that scratches the paint, it’s the dirt and dust on the car when the cover is put on,” he said. “We recommend that the vehicle is washed first, and then the cover is put on.”

When it comes to car covers, there are several fabrics and over 80,000 patterns for cars and trucks. The type of cover to use depends on the need, and the location of the car being stored. “It’s almost like a good toolbox, you have to have the right tool for the job,” Alvarado said.

CCSEMA002Covercraft eCommerce Manager, Jeff Jegelewicz was also on hand to talk to us about some of the other products offered, such as floormats, dash covers, seat covers, and trunk mats. “We have five fabrics and over 4,000 patterns for our Dashmats. We’ve been around so long that they were able to get patterns from all of the older cars when they were current,” he said.

Covercraft also provides custom silkscreen and embroidery for their covers and mats, and has some great things coming next year that they didn’t want to reveal just yet. But for a company that has been around for 50 years already, you know they have the formula to keep you covered. Check out the Covercraft website to find out more about products to protect your car, and be sure to contact Covercraft directly to make sure you get the right cover for your needs.
