This 1963 Chevrolet C10: The Perfect Mix Of Weathered And Beautiful

Chevy Truck 1

When it comes to applying paint to your car, your favorite body man can typically do it in a couple of days. But as of late, it appears many prefer a look that can only be applied via Mother Nature. This color palette of course, takes years to get right. In the case of Travis Dulgerian’s 1963 Chevrolet C10, Mother Nature’s work was combined with the latest technology to arrive at perfection.

Dakota Digital VHX gauges add a classic look to the truck's interior, and fits right in with the reupholstered seat and custom door panels.

Travis and Danielle Dulgerian bought the truck so they could build it as a rolling business card for their business, Pro Performance. Their mail-order company is aimed at supplying parts to the C10 and Camaro market. The plan was to build this C10, to showcase their wares available from the business, and then sell it and focus on another build. Somewhere along the way, that idea was ditched, and the decision was made to sell one of their other projects and make this C10 a long term priority.

The stock running gear and suspension went out the back door, and in their place went a 5.3-liter LS with a 4L60 automatic behind it, and an Airlift and Firestone air bag set up, controlled by an AccuAir E-Level system. No one likes a stock camshaft, so the former Tahoe engine was fitted with a Texas Speed grind to give it some lope before it was dropped under the football field-sized hood. At the same time, a set of Hot Rods by Boyd Smoothie III wheels were added to match the C10’s new altitude adjustment.

A Chevy Tahoe donated its LS 5.3L engine and 4L60 transmission to the project. The LS features a Texas Speed camshaft, so you know it's big. The cam gives the engine some attitude in announcing the truck's arrival or departure from a show.

Like any build of this ilk, the stock brakes were among the factory items finding a home in the dumpster. Baer’s best replaces what was most likely drum brakes, which even in 1963, had to be old technology. The brakes add the appropriate form and function to round out the truck’s exterior.

Moving inside the C10’s cab, you’re not going to be confused into thinking you’re in a 2015 Chevy Silverado, but you would never guess you’re sitting in a truck built in 1963. The reupholstered seat and door panels work with a Hot Rods by Boyd steering wheel at the end of an ididit column, but perhaps the crown jewel of the interior is the full accouterment of Dakota Digital gauges. Specifically, Travis and Danielle chose Dakota Digital’s VHX style gauges, which feature a black alloy face, with a classic white back lit treatment. The gauges offer present-day functionality, mixed with old school cool for which the truck is known.
