Finally, there’s an aftermarket six-speed transmission option for F-body owners. Gone are the days of scouring Facebook Market Place or Craigslist trying to find a good used T56 for your project. TREMEC’s new six-speed transmission, known as the Magnum-F, is designed to replace the T56 in 1998-2000 GM F-bodies. The Magnum-F incorporates TREMEC’s TR-6060 Magnum technology to provide fourth-gen owners with improved performance and relief from the dwindling availability of quality T56 transmissions and replacement components. But, it’s not just fourth-gen F-body owners that will benefit from the new platform. This transmission offers a shifter location that fits in between the popular Magnum and Magnum XL’s shifter positions. The new shifter position allows the Magnum-F to fit in a variety of LS-swapped late-model vehicles. The Magnum-F utilizes the same durable components found in many of today’s OEM muscle and sports cars. The Magnum-F offers increased face-width on all gears, stout double and triple cone synchronizers, enhanced webbing in the main case, provisions for a cooler circuit and more. TREMEC also upgraded the shifter to an isolator type unit, like that found on its Magnum XL. The result is a shifter that offers reduced in-cabin noise and vibrations while providing a precise shift feel that is associated with all Magnum transmissions.
