Each year the Tasmanian Drag Racers Association (TDRA) hosts a popular event known as the “Tassie Nats”, a 3 day event compromised of drag racing, cars shows and entertainment. This event draws the biggest players and fastest cars that Tasmania has to offer, and the lineup wouldn’t be complete with a couple of Ute’s stuck in for good measure.
One of the standout vehicles was a Holden Commodore Vy ss Ute, and its owner Nate Meyer. Visually, she stands out, with help from an S.V.E. SSX body kit. Underhood we find an Ls1 with a Harrop H112 supercharger sitting perched up top, along with a custom spec’d blower cam, and a host of valve train and fuel system upgrades.
Nate had the Ute tuned and dialed in by Steve at Oztrack Tuning of New South Wales, Australia. Leaving off of the hand brake and banging through the gears, his runs came in at 11.34 @ 138 mph, followed by an 11.7 @123 while leaving some nice rubber patches from a pair of 26×8.5 Mickey Thompson slicks.
With plans for a new belt drive system and even more fuel upgrades including a methanol injection setup, Nate says this Ute is ready to break into the 10’s, still on the stock bottom end!
