We knew it wouldn’t take long for the 2015 Mustang ET wars to start heating up. Firing the latest salvo in what is sure to be a major contest over the next year, American Muscle and their tuning outfit BAMA Performance, have reset the record for the fastest naturally aspirated 2015 Mustang. This actually happened last week during the SEMA show, but in order to get the story out to our readers in a timely manner, we chose to hold the info until today.

You may remember that Ford Racing set out to be the first with a naturally aspirated Mustang GT in the 11s. They were able to do that, running an ET of 11.77 in the quarter-mile, we brought you the video of that accomplishment the day it was dropped by Ford Racing.

The AM and BAMA team set out to outdo the blue oval, with their own ’15 GT. Wearing a Cold Air Intake, full exhaust, slicks and skinnies, what they’re calling minor suspension modifications, weight reduction, and a BAMA ’93 tune the BAMA guys did just that, and they even sent us the video to prove it.

The car managed to go an 11.24 at 121.52 mph. They didn’t just beat Ford’s record, they blew it away by over a half second. This was done with the stock IRS hafl-shafts, and the stock IRS bushings, something Ford Racing changed out in their test car.

The BAMA guys were hoping to add something secret to the mix, and go for 10s. After letting the car cool for a while, they brought it back out, and something broke on the launch either in the transmission or rear end. That’s what dumping the clutch with slicks, on a stock IRS will do to a car. We haven’t heard yet what failed, we’re willing to bet the IRS snapped a half-shaft, but the AM crew has yet to inform us.

Regardless, we look for American Muscle to keep pushing the envelope, and possibly be the first naturally aspirated 2015 Mustang in the 10s. We’ll keep you posted, and until then keep checking back right here.
