Our friends over at RK Motors Charlotte continue to add gems to their already respectable car inventory. Their latest addition is a true classic–a fully-restored 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle Super Sport.

Giving great tribute to an era, this Chevelle Super Sport represents nothing but beauty, simplicity and raw power. It’s hard to put those three adjectives together to describe a single car but the ’66 Chevelle Super Sport resembles all three in explicit fashion.

Experiencing a complete rotisserie restoration in Fall 2014, this Chevelle Super Sport underwent surgery that has paid dividends. A rotisserie car restoration involves removing complete sections of a vehicle and painting each individually before reassembly.

The Tuxedo Black paint was sprayed over twice, giving the Chevelle a silky, wet finish. The blacked-out valance, front grille and Super Sport trim only add to this Chevelle’s elegance.

Furthermore, the black paint helps showcase the Chevelle’s curvaceous body lines, which flow seamlessly around the entire car. Settling for simple design aesthetics, the ’66 Chevelle SS is just as much a standout of greatness as the ’66 C2 Corvette Stingray 427ci.

’66 Chevelle SS’ 396ci V8

Back to the topic at hand, this black-on-black Chevelle SS has a rebuilt 396ci 6.5L Big Block V8 engine that produces 375 hp and 560 lb/ft torque. With monstrous torque and adequate horsepower, this Chevelle SS is a capable beast if pushed to its limit.

A Muncie four-speed manual transmission with a Hurst shifter linkage helps put the Chevelle SS’ power to the tarmac. Also, the rear has a 12-bolt rear axle and a Posi-traction differential with 3.31 gears.

The ’66 SS sits on 14-inch steelies that are wrapped with F70-14 Firestone Wide Oval Super sport redline tires. The dual exhaust system on the SS purrs with strength and authority through its turbo mufflers and aluminized pipes.

Lastly, the interior is a brand new, plush black vinyl. The bucket seats are rebuilt and even the original AM radio is intact.
