There’s an unofficial competition raging right now within the Mustang world. It’s going on in shops all over the country, and it involves bragging rights, to see who can crank the most horsepower out of the 2015 Mustang GT.
We’ve reported so far on efforts primarily by Hellion Power Systems, BAMA Performance, and All Out Automotive. This week, we’re reporting on the efforts by a mainstay in the Mustang market, Fred Cook, and his team over at Evolution Performance.
Cook and his crew are the latest to engineer getting a custom built Vortech V7 JT-trim supercharger onto a 2015 Mustang. Along with that they also installed a bevy of supporting parts. This included Evolution’s own air to water intercooler, and their Super Stealth intake plenum, intake air temperature management is helped by an Afco dual pass heat exchanger. Additionally a Tial Sport Q 50mm blow off valve was installed, along with ID1000 fuel injectors, American Racing 1 7/8-inch long tube headers, off-road X-pipe and Pure Thunder exhaust, help support the effort.
With a tank full of Gulf Racing Mach 116 fuel, and the boost cranked up, the Vortech blown 2015 Mustang GT pulled over 900 hp to the rear tires, and 640 ft-lbs of torque. The tune has been adjusted for street driving as well, with ignition timing pulled back to allow for the use of 93 octane pump gas.
The sound the car makes on the dyno is quite impressive, and it sounds like the Vortech JT-Trim supercharger is about to suck the paint off the Race Red Fastback’s front bumper. This is the most powerful stick shift 2015 we’ve seen so far. What’s even more impressive is that the bottom end can take the boost, we’ll be anxious to see how the car fares under the mercy of its owner. Until then, we’re looking forward to seeing more of this from shops like Evolution in the coming months.
