There are a great many treasure on the Internet that remind us the importance of a relationship between father and son. Being car guys and all, we think one of the best bonding experiences between any parent and child is the undertaking a classic project car. If nothing else, this gives the parents a certain “cool” factor, and can inspire their children to undertake similar projects. Project cars are also great tools for teaching life skills like patience, budgeting, and pride in a job-well-done.
Dating back to 2009, this video is an oldie-but-goody with more than 200,000 views racked up on YouTube. For a simple, 30-second burnout video, that’s pretty impressive, and if you ask us it’s because this pair of Mustangs is owned by a father-son duo.
Pops drives what looks to be either a 1967 or ‘68 Mustang fastback painted in that familiar Bullitt-esque Dark Hyland Green color we’re so used to seeing. Meanwhile, sonny boy is driving a red Fox-body, a much younger but just-as-fierce Ford. The two start spinning their tires (after a false start when dad stalls), creating an impressive cloud of smoke before pops zooms off into the sunset.
There isn’t much more to this video…and yet there is. At the core of it all is a father and son who share the same passion; cars. This isn’t about Mustangs or even muscle cars. It is about spending time with your family, passing along your love for something near and dear to your heart. With ity being Father’s Day weekend, this video is a reminder to remember that dutiful dad in your life.
